In the Hendrix chord lick 2 video, the flourished notes come from the major scale that the chord is built from.
Please, from where come the additional notes (F, D, A, E) used with the D5 like chord (root on 5th string) in the Hendrix chord lick 1 video (from 3’28” to 3’38”)?
I suspect that these notes belong to the A natural minor scale (shape 2), but I am not sure because a major chord (D5) is used.

Hi Jean, great question! The answer is actually even more simple than you first guessed…That chord between 3:28 and 3:38 is actually a C5 chord, not a D5 chord – so those flourish notes are all part of the C major scale!
