Eric was one of my musical heroes growing up and, indirectly through his columns, a significant teacher of mine. There was something about the way he taught and thought about music that resonated very deeply with me. He passed months before I arrived in London and it’s a great regret of mine that I was never able to meet him, hear him play, and learn from him.
The music I play at the beginning of the video was a first-take, improvised passage played with him in mind.
In this edition we look at Eric Roche’s ‘Acoustic Guitar Bible’. This is a wonderful book that covers everything from guitar construction, harmony, solo guitar arrangement, and more – truly a bible of the acoustic guitar!
